Brown University: Mediterranean Encounters

A Concert of Judeo-Islamic Musical Intersections

ASEFA, led by Dr. Samuel Torjman Thomas, traverses several Mediterranean musical traditions, drawing upon a rich intercultural mix of Hebraic and Islamic traditions from North Africa and the Middle East. They delve into Andalusian and Maqam-based musical dialects, highlighting the interculturality inherent to the region’s past and present. Songs are performed in Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, and Ladino.

Join us at Grant Recital Hall on Saturday, September 21st at 8:00pm. Registration is recommended to guarantee a seat.
